Mojave Lomatium

Guess what I found?!? A BLACK flower! These flowers are usually a dark red-purple, but they do vary to completely black. How unusual is that?? The first time I saw a green flower I set off to photograph unusual colored flowers. Mostly that means green and brown. But I kept searching, year after year, and I finally found a black one. They typically grow in desert areas like here, in the Alabama Hills.    Lomatium mohavense  (Carrot family)
