Bitter Root

The Bitter Root is a nifty little flower with nice leaves. It is also the state flower of Montana. I found this one at over 8000 feet elevation in southern California. It often pops up quickly when the snow melts from sunny places. Lewisia rediviva (Portulacaceae family)
